The basic fiberglass fabric is 1000 degree F/537 degree C, while adhesive will burn-off or vaporize at temperatures above 300 degree F/148 degree C.

The sleeve is fabricated from a roll fabric, and is sewn with a double lock-stitch seam utilizing high temperature Kevlar thread. The resulting sleeve has a teardrop or tadpole profile when viewed on-end; the width of the sewn tail is typically 6mm.
