About Red Firesleeve

Red Firesleeve

The Aerospace Grade Firesleeve is fabricated from a bulk braided fiberglass yarn substrate with  thick liquid silicone rubber coating. Coating process of silicone rubber on fiberglass sleeve makes this firesleeve flexible, expandable for connectors covering.

Properties:
Firesleeve is made from braid high bulk glass fiber sleeve and coated flexibility Silicone Rubber can withstand repeated exposures to molten steel, molten aluminum and molten glass up to 3000 degree F (1650 degree C).
The aerospace grade coating of our proprietary iron oxide red silicone rubber compound sheds molten metal splash immediately, so very little heat transfer occurs.
When exposed to flames, the silicone rubber transforms into a crust, creating a protective SiO2 refractory layer.
Excellent modulus of elasticity makes it an ideal choice for bundling hoses, tubes and cables in a variety of hostile environments.

Applications:
The typical applications include protecting hoses and cables in steel mills, aluminum smelting plants, offshore drilling rigs, foundries and glass manufacturing facilities.

The silicone coated fiberglass fire sleeve features an excellent modulus of elasticity, allowing it to easily stretch an expand over fittings and connectors. The outer cover offers excellent resistance to most industrial chemicals and hydraulic oils. Additional uses include the bundling of multiple hoses and cables together, while providing good abrasion resistance.

In applications where operators and maintenance personnel are working in the vicinity of steam lines or hot oil lines, there is always the danger of employees incurring serious burns from the branding effect of hot braided hoses. The silicone rubber coated sleeve provides effective burn protection from steam lines while insulating against costly energy losses. Applications include rubber vulcanization operations, platen presses, infection molding plants-anywhere hot steam or oil lines are used.

Superior Temperature and Fire Resistance

Red Firesleeve offers unmatched resistance to thermal hazards. Engineered to operate continuously between -54C and +260C, it endures brief exposures up to 1650C. Featuring self-extinguishing silicone rubber and a durable fiberglass interior, this sleeve exceeds UL 1441 VW-1 standards for fire safety, making it ideal for industries where high temperature and flame resistance are critical.

Versatile Protective Solutions

Available in inner diameters from 6mm to 127mm, Red Firesleeve accommodates a range of cables, hoses, and hydraulic lines. Its flexible tubular construction and easy-to-cut silicone-coated fiberglass design allow for straightforward, hassle-free installation, whether for retrofitting existing lines or integrating into new assemblies. Custom lengths are available to suit specific applications.

FAQ's of Red Firesleeve:

Q: How is Red Firesleeve installed on hoses and cables?

A: Red Firesleeve is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing it to be easily slipped over hoses, cables, wires, or hydraulic lines. For longer installations or for fitting over large connectors, the sleeve can be cut to size and slid into place before securing the line ends as needed.

Q: What makes Red Firesleeve resistant to high temperatures and flame?

A: The sleeve is constructed with an inner layer of E-glass fiber braid and an outer silicone rubber coating. This combination provides excellent thermal insulation, continuous protection from -54C to +260C, short-term resistance up to 1650C, and self-extinguishing flame resistance per UL 1441 VW-1.

Q: When should Red Firesleeve be used in industrial applications?

A: Red Firesleeve is ideal whenever hoses, wires, or hydraulic lines require protection from heat, flame, or molten splash. It is commonly applied in automotive, aerospace, steelworks, and manufacturing environments, particularly where temperature extremes and potential fire hazards are present.

Q: Where can Red Firesleeve be applied for optimal cable and hose safety?

A: This firesleeve can be used anywhere high-temperature or fire protection is needed-such as engine rooms, near furnaces, in steel plants, or alongside welding operations. Its ability to handle a broad range of sizes allows it to protect various cabling and hydraulic systems.

Q: What is the benefit of using silicone-coated glass fiber in this firesleeve?

A: The silicone-coated glass fiber construction grants flexibility, durability, low water absorption (<1%), and high tensile strength, ensuring reliable performance in demanding industrial settings. It also makes the sleeve resistant to abrasion and easy to handle during installation.

Q: Is Red Firesleeve compliant with industry regulations and safety standards?

A: Yes, Red Firesleeve is RoHS compliant and meets flame resistance requirements defined by UL 1441 VW-1, ensuring both environmental responsibility and workplace safety in industrial and commercial applications.
