About Aerospace Grade Firesleeve

Aerospace Grade Firesleeve

The Aerospace Grade Firesleeve is fabricated from a bulk braided fiberglass yarn substrate with thick liquid silicone rubber coating. Coating process of silicone rubber on fiberglass sleeve makes this firesleeve flexible, expandable for connectors covering.
Properties:
Firesleeve is made from braid high bulk glass fiber sleeve and coated flexibility Silicone Rubber can withstand repeated exposures to molten steel, molten aluminum and molten glass up to 3000 degree F(1650 degree C).
The aerospace grade coating of our proprietary iron oxide red silicone rubber compound sheds molten metal splash immediately, so very little heat transfer occurs.
When exposed to flames, the silicone rubber transforms into a crust, creating a protective SiO2 refractory layer.
Excellent modulus of elasticity makes it an ideal choice for bundling hoses, tubes and cables in a variety of hostile environments.
Applications:
The typical applications include protecting hoses and cables in steel mills, aluminum smelting plants, offshore drilling rigs, foundries and glass manufacturing facilities.
The silicone coated fiberglass fire sleeve features an excellent modulus of elasticity, allowing it to easily stretch an expand over fittings and connectors. The outer cover offers excellent resistance to most industrial chemicals and hydraulic oils. Additional uses include the bundling of multiple hoses and cables together, while providing good abrasion resistance.
In applications where operators and maintenance personnel are working in the vicinity of steam lines or hot oil lines, there is always the danger of employees incurring serious burns from the branding effect of hot braided hoses. The silicone rubber coated sleeve provides effective burn protection from steam lines while insulating against costly energy losses. Applications include rubber vulcanization operations, platen presses, infection molding plants-anywhere hot steam or oil lines are used.

Superior Temperature Resistance

Engineered for demanding environments, this firesleeve offers continuous temperature protection from -54C up to +260C, withstanding surges up to +1650C during brief flame exposure. Its silicone-coated E-glass fiber construction maintains integrity under extreme heat, making it ideal for aerospace, automotive, and industrial cable and hose insulation.

Unmatched Durability and Flexibility

Featuring a thick extruded silicone rubber coating and a flexible tubular design, the firesleeve resists abrasion, UV, ozone, and adverse weather. Its self-extinguishing characteristic enhances safety in critical applications, while the low thermal conductivity minimizes heat transfer to protected components.

Customizable and Easy to Install

Available in inner diameters ranging from 6mm to 127mm and standard or custom lengths, this firesleeve can be tailored for a broad spectrum of installation needs. Its flexible structure and small outside diameter tolerance ensure easy handling and a snug fit around hoses and cables.

FAQ's of Aerospace Grade Firesleeve:

Q: How should I install the Aerospace Grade Firesleeve for optimal protection?

A: To ensure best results, slide the firesleeve over hoses or cables prior to connecting the ends. Ensure a snug fit around the component, taking advantage of the sleeve's flexibility. Cut to the desired length using scissors or a hot knife, and seal the cut ends with suitable high-temperature tape or clamps.

Q: What are the main applications for this firesleeve?

A: This firesleeve is primarily used for protecting hydraulic hoses, industrial and aerospace cables, and hoses in automotive and heavy equipment. Its high heat and flame resistance make it especially suitable for harsh environments where exposure to extreme temperatures or molten metal splash can occur.

Q: When should I consider replacing the firesleeve?

A: Replace the firesleeve if you observe significant physical wear, damage, breakdown of the coating, or after five years of storage/use, whichever comes first. Regular inspection is recommended, especially in environments with frequent mechanical stress or intense heat.

Q: Where can I use the firesleeve in terms of environmental exposure?

A: Thanks to its excellent UV, ozone, and weather resistance, the firesleeve is suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments. It maintains performance in rain, snow, direct sunlight, and exposure to chemical vapors, making it ideal for a wide range of conditions.

Q: What is the process for ordering custom sizes or colors?

A: You can request custom inner diameters, lengths, or colors by contacting the manufacturer or distributor directly. Provide your specific requirements, such as ID, length, and preferred color, so your order can be tailored accordingly.

Q: How does using this firesleeve benefit hydraulic and cable systems?

A: Using this firesleeve extends the life of hoses and cables by shielding them from extreme heat, abrasion, moisture, and chemical exposure. Its thermal insulation helps maintain system integrity and reliability even under demanding conditions.
